Numeracy - height, length, measuring and estimating

We had a lot of fun measuring our height and various material around us!

Chay is the tallest and Rei is the shortest. Rei was very happy about this! :)

 Ohm: "I have short stick!"

 Rei: "Which one is long?"

James "I have three... all short"

Rei "two!"

"I think this one is longest"

 "Look!"

"My stick is longer than leaf"

"Look this one is small... this one big"

Then we learnt how to measure something using a ruler

 Nina: "My stone so tineeeee"

 "This one is short Miss.Myshi"

Miss.Myshi: "Who has a long stick?"

 Ohm: "My stick very long!"

This week, we learnt the meaning of estimation; that we can guess a number by looking at how big or small the quantity is.

The kids guessed how many balls are in Frankie's tummy.

Then we estimated using numicon and pebbles.

We also matched number cards to numicon blocks.

We guessed how many dinosaurs are in front of us.

It has been a fun two weeks of Numeracy for RM. Please feel free to practice these games at home - I'm happy to share any information if you would like.
